Randle per 36 is 21ppg and 11 boards, 3!of which are ORB. Shoots .550 and is 23 years old. Has clearly developed. Improved defense. He’s a 4 not a 5. Can KP play the 5, and allow Randle and Beas to dominate the 4?

If Randle can handle the beefy bigs better than Kanter, maybe. If I were the Knicks I’d recognize that I’d want to protect him from physical wear and tear as much as possible so he can continue to do his unicorn thing - so the physical presence at the other big spot is what I’d be going for.

Per 36 Kanter is averaging 19.6pts, 14.0rbd, 3.4orb, shoots .603fg and .868ft. He’s a beast by standard metrics, very arguably better than Randle.

It is Kanter ferocity that I believe makes him suitable as Trade fodder. Yet what does he average career wise. ? Remember Donovon sat him in the playoffs due to his atrocious defense.

I can see the front court as follows (ideally):
KP/
Noah
Beas
Wily
Randle
Draft a 5 like W Carter from Duke

Sf: MCDermott
Guards : Frank ?
Burke
Dotson
THJr

Can we stop judging Kanter by how he played elsewhere versus what he'd doing now? He worked hard in the off season to lose weight and improve his quickest on defense. He is at least adequate on defense now. Players can improve and develop.

Kanter is not adequate on defense. He's terrible. He tries but he cannot withstand the low post assaults in crunch time. Things get real in the 4th. Teams attack opposing weaknesses. Kanter can serve a role but you cannot play him at center down the stretch of games unless you have a serious low post defender alongside him, and even that could be risky.

Ignoring kanter's history is foolish. He is what he is. Good low post score and rebounder. Liability on D.

The stats on Kanter defensively as well as his -/+ with KP on the floor are really bad. Sure we like his aggressiveness but the reality is he hurts us which is why you see Horny pulling him increasingly.

I would say Randle due to offering unique skills for the position that still can be developed. His handle and agility, and ability to guard multiple positions as well as play make. He gets wild and turns the ball over a lot though and his FT shooting needs work.

Randle would be perfect if he could just shoot a little from the outside but he can't. We will end up paying him 20 million a year and we mght get even money production. He will be Tim Hardaway jr part 2
