Without a couple bouts of insane reffing moments we would also blown these scrubs out. That one white ref is a criminal. Fairly certain he’s fixing games. It’s always him making bananas calls. Glad we fought back and coulda had it at least. Speights tubby bitch ass can’t get his tit riddled ass in position for a charge if his life depended on it.

How it works for NBA refs are they get reviewed for every call they make in every game. They get a "rating" One version of it is an open rating they can see the push/pull at work. Another version is one hidden from them and only scrutinized by aspects of the league administration.

Refs are issued videos to watch in meetings to get real time video of how the NBA wants to address specific types of issues. When the refs see the SAME PLAYER OVER AND OVER AGAIN, it's basically the league saying "F**k this dude over" or "He can get hit as many times as anyone wants, and you'll let it happen"

Things no one talks about

A) Home teams always get some pull their way. They can't sell tickets if the people who do go always see the team lose or get blown up every night. Also local businesses, many who are buying those luxury suites, are getting a hard sell on their clients at these games when the home team gets destroyed.

B) Refs are basically done everything but out right told to keep games close and then be hands off for the final shot of the game if it's that close.

C) People are paying to see the most elite players play, if you call traveling on LBJ ( he's always traveling) or give him three quick fouls even if he deserves it, then you aren't getting playoff work. You might not even keep your job.

The Knicks have no one who is truly marketable right now at a nationwide broadcast level. This hurts them. Even Steph Curry, a truly excellent player, is not all that marketable. He's polite and plays the right way and is a good teammate but none of that sells ESPN First Take ad time. It's not really getting shoes to fly off the shelves.

I know some people hate the reliance on the three point shot, but it evolved in part because of the way the league is reffed. You can't really job someone on a three point shot. Steph Curry in a few Finals games, has been outright mugged on the court. The league can't really stop a guy who shoots at that level unless they allow defenders to maul him. And when they do, it's pretty obvious it's happening. Shaq drove the refs and league nuts. He'd hit one of two free throws, maybe. So he was unreliable to massage the late game by refs. How can the Lakers get back into it if Shaq keeps bricking free throws?

If Dotson could sing like Bruno Mars, had the appeal of a John Mayer in his prime and was banging Taylor Swift, he'd be headed to the All Star game this year. Because he'd be shooting 974 free throws a game.

You just can't except clean called games in the NBA. It just doesn't fit their "narrative" and it does not fit their bottom line.

Great write up! Also that fouled 3 point shot of Gordon was garbage.
