is not ready to let bygones be bygones, telling the Chicago Bulls that he would welcome a trade if the team decides to keep Bobby Portis, according to multiple reports.

Mirotic suffered a concussion and facial fractures when he was punched by Portis during a practice altercation Oct. 17. Portis was suspended eight games.

According to the reports, Mirotic's team has told the Bulls that they would waive his no-trade clause and leave Chicago rather than stay with Portis. The 26-year-old Mirotic signed a two-year, $27 million contract before the season.

After the fight, the Bulls initially said that they were waiting for Mirotic's concussion symptoms to subside before doctors could ascertain whether he needed surgery for his other injuries. Coach Fred Hoiberg said that Mirotic was not cleared from the concussion protocol when he visited a specialist Wednesday. Vice president of basketball operations John Paxson told reporters at practice Friday that Mirotic was cleared for light physical activity like riding a bike.

Paxson said that the team is sympathetic to Mirotic's plight but would have to do what's best for the organization. He added that they would take Mirotic's lead when it comes to communicating with teammates.

Portis apologized publicly Oct. 21 and said he had reached out to Mirotic but had not heard back.

"I'm wrong for what I did," Portis said. "I want to publicly apologize to Niko. I feel like I let my fans, the Bulls organization and, most importantly, my teammates down. This is not who Bobby Portis is."

In three seasons, Mirotic has averaged 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game as a stretch power forward.

Portis, 22, was a first-round draft pick in 2015 who has averaged 6.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game over two seasons

maybe we get grant back and really make phils day.

nikola has a team option on the 2nd yr, he's young, good chemistry with noah, perfect back up for kp since they have similar games

How about Kanter to Milwaukee for Greg Monroe and their lottery protected 2018 pick.

because he's a stretch big who's very solid from deep, and the 2nd yr (18/19) is a team option

One who is essentially a taller version of McDermott. We need forwards who can guard their position? The fact that he comes off the books next season is intriguing tho

Dont blame him for wanting to look for a new team. As others have said, we need a PG. Maybe a multi-team trade that nets us a 1st round draft pick for Kanter, and anyone other than KP, Frank, and Willy. Pretty sure teams are noticing Kanter's hot start.

Its going to be interesting to see what moves the Knicks make to clear the log jams while upgrading the PG position.

Perry and Mills have talked a good game about thinking long term, the first few moves should tell us how serious they are.

Sign of a dick when he apologizes and refers to himself in the 3rd person. That is not how NYKBocker likes his people.

There is no logic in that deal for the Bucks. Trading for Kanter means they plan on keeping and paying for him long term. Which means they would have to trade Parker as Kanter and Parker will cost close to 40mil to keep both. On top of their current salary cap. If they let Kanter walk then they gave away a draft pick for nothing.

Bucks want to shed salaries of players like Henson and Tetovic as well as let Monroe walk. Probably wouldnt mind moving on from Delly as well. This way they can keep their core of Freak, Middleton, Parker, Brogdon. Maybe Maker as well.

We could probably pull off a Baker for Delly and DJ Wilson and a 2nd Rd pick. If you want to think bigger. We can move Baker and KOQ for Delly and Tetovic for DJ Wilson, Sterling Brown and a 2nd. We add in Dougie which makes sense for both teams and maybe get a future first.

Thinking about its it's real good trade for both teams. Wilson and Brown are both the type of forwards we should look to invest in. To grow with this core.

Bucks are going to make the playoffs regardless unless Freak gets injured. Freak is arguably the best player in bball right now. They don't need Kanter to make playoffs in the weak east. What they need is to dump Delly and Telly's contracts so they can free up money to keep their core of Freak, Brogdon, Middleton and Parker together without having to go waaaay over the cap to do it.

They are going to have to pay Parker this off-season. Then Middlton and Brogdon next off season after Middleton opts out. They are going to have a 91 mil payroll as it stands this offseason if they don't pay Parker who wants at least 20mil per. Doing the trade I proposed with the Bucks saves them 18mil toward their 91 mil cap for 2018-19.

Trading Monroe and a pick for Kanter either is throwing away a first rounder for the Bucks. Or makes them explode their salary cap. It would only make sense if they plan on trading Parker along with Henson or Snell for cap relief and a future pick. And basically replacing Parker with Kanter.

Monroe - An overpaid pivot who can't defend the rim and can't space the floor. He's an expiring contract

Kanter - An overpaid pivot who can't defend the rim and can't space the floor. He has a player option next year. Given most teams are either in the tax zone or cap locked, odds are he's going to opt in. We are talking like 99.999999999999 percent that he will opt in.

You are asking the Bucks to give up an asset to ADD ONE MORE OF A BAD CONTRACT, FOR THE SAME TYPE OF LIMITED PLAYER THEY DESPERATELY REGRET SIGNING AND TRIED TO DUMP ALMOST IMMEDIATELY.

Not only this, but Kanter opting in would likely end up pushing them into the tax zone including all their other resignings, etc.

If Monroe could play defense but no offense and they were both expiring and making about the same money, then as a "Challenge" trade, sure that might have been possible. But to extend what is essentially a bad contract and to pay to do it would drive the Greek Freak insane.

Monroe had a pretty good season last year and isn't the black hole Kanter is so I doubt the Bucks bite.

Briggs you aren't listening to half the ish I'm saying bro. Kanter has one yr left and a player option. They have a 91mil salary cap next season. They would have to pay Kanter and Parker next season. Say Kanter settles for 15mil per and Parker at 18 to be generous. That would raise their salary cap to 124mil. The next season Middleton and Brogdon are both gonna a be FAs. Middleton will command 18-20mil at least. Brogdon will command anywhere from 12-16mil depending on how he develops over these 2 seasons.

New York you make my point. First off it's no secret the Bucks don't like Monroe-- they've tried to trade him unsuccessfully and start a raw young c ahead of him. Whether you or Triple Threat said it-- you're right he probably won't opt out but why would they care-- they'd want him. The Bucks are kiss ass soft inside. I mean kiss ass. They have no toughness on that team. Kanter is a grinder. I'm not sure where his 16 footer is but he's top 3 in rebounding % and THE top player avg over 15 points in fg%. They need his rebounding and easy basket potential -- that is exactly what the announcers were saying last night-- the bucks don't get easy shots. The Knicks-- no way are they giving kanter away-- he's not over priced for what he can do yet isn't locked in for 4 years either -- we can agree to disagree but Kanter on the Bucks makes tons of sense

Monroe is an expiring contract for the Bucks. NBA is now played at a faster pace which is why guys like Kanter, Monroe etc who don't bring strong defense or shooting are viewed as 6th men.. and why Maker who fits the up tempo game is being g force fed those mins Watching the Lakers vs Wizards. Brock Lopez was on the bench in crunch time. While they went small ball pushing the tempo and mounted the come back victory. He got taken out when he didn't get back in time while Jason Smith ran down the court for an easy layup as nobody picked him up. Walton took hsi best player out to opt for speed. Bucks arent trying to add more salary. They are trying to dump salaries of Delledova, Tetovic, Henson, and Snell. So they can keep and pay their core 4. Adding Kanter only makes sense if they are looking to trade Parker attached with Delly or Henson and make a new core 4 with Kanter replacing Parker as apart of their core.

I'm guessing the Knicks were that team that expressed an interest in . . . Portis. Sigh. I'd like to say I'm joking but the surprise here would be Mirotic landing on the Knicks, the more likely and totally unsurprising thing would be Portis ending up at Knick.
nikola mirotic asked to be traded
