Let him get a gaudy point total.
But Nalod is a fan, and this fan wants the team to get its Triangle act together and make a run.
That itself moves the team forward. If you can't sell at the trade deadline, then go for it.
If it don't work, then the tank will work itself.
If rose don't like it, he can sit. If melo wants to rest, let him. If Noah can't go, then let him heal and go to Germany and get some plasma nazi doping shyt. Melo can spend off season calling this rolodex and pretend he is big star recruiting man, but in fact, figure out how to get to Clipper land or be Laker pansy.

Don't play defense. Don't play.

In the NFL, if you are a running back and you can't block/pass protect, you don't play. You could be the next Walter Payton, but are not playing three downs if the QB1 gets pasted each time a pass rusher zooms by you like a turnstile and kills the 20 million dollar a year Golden Boy with the rocket arm.

Easy to bench any player in the NBA that you realize you don't want on your roster ever again. Just say, if you don't play defense, you don't play.

Do we have an excuse to shut down melo?
