Yeah, his defense was incredible. That Oregon team D was pretty good. Kansas played a rushed game and never settled down. Jackson was alright, really hurt by first half foul trouble. Frankly, kinda glad he might slip a little in the minds of other teams. We shall see, I guess.

Yeah I hope he slips. I would love if they ended up with Jackson and Mason with the Bulls pick. There should be some solid guys available when the Knicks use the bulls pick.

I believe he is an elite passer, with elite vision, feel and an off the charts b-ball IQ. He is a prodigy in terms of how he sees and feels the game.

I love his height and his skill with the ball but after that I have concerns.

- he is a mediocre to poor NBA athlete ((don't let the occasional alley oop dunk fool you - he is sub par)
- he is a very poor on the ball / on the dribble defender
- he struggles and doesn't show any great willingness to get in the paint or to the rim
- he doesn't get to the foul line (if someone could check Fox FT attempts vs Ball on the season against top 20 teams)
- he has little to no mid-range game
- he is unselfish but his shot selection when he does shoot is suspect and the reason you see some of the quick/forced long range 3's comes back to his lack of elite athleticism.

If Knicks take him -- I'll jump on the bandwagon and hope for the best but I had the same concerns with D-Russell and I think he's disappointed big time in the NBA so far.

Ball's relevance in the league will rest heavily with the system he plays in and with his supporting cast. If we were to parlay Melo in a 3-team trade that gets Victor Oladipo- a player that compliments Ball well- I think he'd be an exceedingly good player for us. Victor would allow us to develop Ball as a 2-guard defensively and could help us push the ball on the break, which Ball's lack of athleticism might not permit as the primary ballhandler. But I think we'd be mistaken if we think that Lonzo will be some kind of franchise player.

Point being these amazing performances are important data but hopefully our scouts stay level headed and look at a full body of work. Maybe fox goes high and ball falls to us. A week ago we would have been ecstatic w ball

Wasn't there an incident where Pierce was stabbed outside a nightclub in college that made people sort of doubt his character?

Josh Jackson has a similar weird incident or two at Kansas, nothing huge... wouldn't mind if that let him fall into our laps.

I don't remember anything in college but I do know that when he got stabbed his was already a Celtic; had been one for at least a couple of seasons too.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

To my mind, Dennis Smith is the most undervalued pick in our range currently.

My board (combined potential/safety margin)

1. Markelle Fultz
2. Lonzo Ball
3. Dennis Smith
4. Josh Jackson
5. Jonathan Isaac
6. Jayson Tatum
7. De'aaron Fox
8. Frank Ntilikina
9. Lauri Markaanaen

Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

Who looked better their freshman year Monk or Booker?

I remember Booker being a nice player but nowhere as explosive or athletically dynamic as Monk.

So many are down playing Monk in the pro's as a smallish shooting guard but I'm thinking he may be more then many (me included) are assuming.

Yeah, agreed. I made the comparison to Booker last page. Just in that neither guy got to show off their full game at Kentucky. I think Monk is the better athlete. I think a healthy version of Eric Gordon or Bradley Beal is a good comp for him.

He'd certainly be on my board for the Knicks. But right now, I'm having hopes of Jackson or Ball. Time will tell where our pick falls.

Kentucky guards translate well to the nba so that needs to be factored in. He's a little like McCollum, who I think would be a pg in the triangle. Monk isn't being fully utilized at Kentucky, that's easy to see. He would be a good pick.

Man, watching the way this UK/UNC game is being called, I feel like I'm watching a Knicks game. Refs are calling everything for UNC to an absurd degree. Fox picked up 2 quick fouls and had to ride the bench most of the first half. He came in for the last offensive possession and got mauled going to the hoop and there was no call. There were lots of other calls against Kentucky that were absurd. Like, seriously, I would be shocked if the refs weren't on the take for this game.

That's a tough match up for sure. What's Jackson? 6'9?

Yeah his size and length are suffocating Monk. Fox getting kept out of the paint too. UNC playing good defense.

Jackson is 5-15 from the field so monk isn't making it easy for him.

Monk let Justin Jackson get a wide open layup in a press situation. He really does remind me of JR Smith sometimes.

Where in the draft do you guys think Justin Jackson will go? Most draft sites have him going in the 20s....if so, I'd be looking to trade for Toronto's pick to draft him. A PG in the lottery and him with that pick would be a major haul for us.

I think he'll go higher. Didn't DX have him around 12th?

That size issue is my biggest fear for Monk in the league 6'4 and a 6'3.5 wingspan means he's gonna have to be really quick and work to get his shot off unless he becomes a catch and shoot specialist.

The algorithm gives and the algorithm takes away

I think there's a lot more space in the average NBA game - defensive apathy, better spacing due to deeper three point line, etc - but it'd be a problem in terms of creating his own shot, I think. I think he'd need a great PG to get him the ball.

Fox was limited by foul troubles today, but I feel like he's still second on the "guys I want most for the Knicks" board in my head behind Josh Jackson. I don't know who is third on that board.

In truth of the guards I could live with any of Fultz, Ball, Fox or Smith. They're all impact players IMO. Also of the SF's Jackson, Tatum or Isaac. I think Monk is a bit of a drop off from the other guards but still a good addition if we fell.

Nbadraft had him at 24 and Draftexpress had him between 20-25 earlier in the year. But they've since moved him to 14, while other sites like CBSSportsline and Yahoo have him between 12-14. I definitely think he has lottery talent so I would not be surprised to see him go in that range.

Is that right? Sheesh that's a concern. WhT was jimmer's wingspan?

On the other hand, this Lavar Ball video makes it seem like he could use some work before taking on Jordan...
