Galloway and Holiday give us two players who can play significant time at 2 guard off the bench. If Phil and Noah come to terms July 1, I expect them to opt for a 1 year investment at 2 guard. They would want to keep that capspace open in 2017-18 for a Westbrook etc.

That 1 year deal is where I could see Gordon have interest in NY. One year up your value like Afflalo, Thomas, Williams all did, and get a big pay out in 2017. Gordon is rumored to be one of the few bigger name free agents looking for a one year deal to up his value for future free agency.

Yeah, the only way I feel ok about EG is on a one year deal.

If Gordon is a lot more reasonable then Lee (14 mil) I think you sign him on a prove it contract. Gallo, Holliday, Baker etc., can fill in for the game missed.

Could work out best going that route. Should be interesting to see how Phil addresses SG.

I think E.Gordan goes to the Knicks for the following reasons:
(1) Price tag shouldn't be that outrageous;(enough left over for Noah)
(2) Great shooter (Holiday will get plenty burn as well for his D);
(3) Played in the same back court with D. Rose in high school;
(4) He's an Isiah Thomas guy (yes I believe his voice still holds some weight)

Courtney Lee would be better than bazemore and would shine under our system.

The good thing about Gordon is that we could almost certainly get him on a 1+1 contract to keep cap room next year.

Defense can be coached. I just worry about Eric's health. He's a good player. He's certainly not an all star but he can be a good 3rd or great 4th option. I assume this is a fall back plan from KD and Noah

Rose is recruiting Eric Gordon to the Knicks. I might be on board with this.

I like Gordon, but worry that apart from being injury prone he will make our starting backcourt undersized and thus prone to being abused by bigger opposing guards in the post.

We have rim protection in KP & Noah.

It has his pros and cons. I think they want Gordon because he is a high skill player. Knicks have gone all out for skill this summer. Taking risks in history of injuries or whatever - in hopes the skill level of these players makes them a very talented team.

I mean if you have Noah, KP and Melo up front with Rose and Gordon in the backcourt - hard to say where the hole in that starting is. There's skill at all 5 positions, and 4 of those 5 players have had seasons in their careers averaging 4-5 (or more assists). My one concern other than the obvious injury history of Noah, Rose and Gordon is the usage rate. Melo, Rose and Gordon all high usage players. Skill wise though Melo and Gordon have shooting range and are willing catch and shoot wing players.

At the very least we would be compelling to watch to see if it works out or is a complete disaster.

Another thing is that Hornachek has run 2 point guard offense in Phx. With Gordon and Rose, you have the chance for either to run a play similar to what he was trying to do in PHX. Unlike Lee, Brazemore or Afflao or someone like that Gordon can actually create a shot for himself or a teammate if he is aggressive. He's a better ballhandler and passer than Afflalo and a more consistent outside shooter.

We are supposedly the frontrunner for Eric according to hoopshype. Not sure how that works with Jo unless it can be backloaded.

I don't want him at all- we'd be the all-injury team, which is very dangerous when you plan on being a high speed running team

I suppose the injury risk can be mitigated by having Galloway play starter's minutes plus signing some big former all star veteran, a Ray Allen type for the vets minimum. Have an SG by committee kind of thing.

IF we can stay healthy, damn will we be good. A bit worried about defense though as Gordon is nothing there and with all the offensive fire power we would have, I'd rather get a 3 and D guy at the 2 with Ron waiting in the wings. Then again, if we keep signing guys who are injury prone, Ron will get his chance sooner rather than later.

The upside of our team would be nice but the risk is quite high

I've seen Gordon defend the ball exceptionally well at times but he doesn't seem like a very alert intelligent defender which is imperative in today's league.
