So rare to see a player his length that can shoot like he can. He is also extremely athletic for his size.

it may take 2-3 years to start seeing the results and I REALLY hope that we can have some patience with him and stop with the silly instant high expectations.

Also, I really hope that Melo has a positive influence on him and does not hurt his psyche early on.

Don't know why but I am extremely high on this kid, I like his makeup and love the way he communicates. He really sounds like he wants to be great.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

He certainly has the skills and from what he has said it sounds like he has the desire to be a all star. I understand the skepticism some have and even i have some but im willing to be patient since the reward could be great for us

I have noticed one trend since CA got here

Though we no longer RUN ISO as we once did, he wants the ball to be in his hands and has no problem taking 10 shots in a row, at some point he will need to learn to play OFF the ball and do OTHER THINGS like getting OFF BOARDS/FIGHTING FOR POSITION/SETTING SCREENS OFF THE BALL *something that he should be doing in the Triangle but rarely if ever see him doing it*
He needs to learn that by allowing his team mates to get in the flow of things and gaining confidence, it would only help him in long run
And he is suppose to be a VET, I hope Iman and JR Smith both tell him a bit of without much sugar coating, the difference between Lebron and CA...

he likes to make all the players on the roster, especially rookies, submit to him and get the ball ANYTIME HE WANTS THE BALL
He is the ALPHA, a reason I think he didn't want a PG, as he wants the ball to be in his hands, lets see what happens with the changes to the roster

Though he bashed Iman Shumpert when he was drafted, they became good friends and formed a bond, he wasn't very happy and let Twitter know off it

Anthony Davis's contributions took a BIG STEP forward and he was in his 3rd year this past season
Like KP, he needed to get stronger and he improved his athleticism/strength and RANGE

Vucevic also did NOTHING in his rookie year with little PT, and beasted in his 2nd year
I think we can get some contributions of KP by his 2nd year sometime, though he will only continue to get better if we get the development coaches/trainers to work on his game and allow him to progress/make mistakes/ get minutes

How Winslow develops in Miami or WCS develops in Kings has nothing to do with how they would have developed here either, as we have so many holes to fill
I hope we get the development staff neeeded to help these guys succeed with KP, get trainers that worked with AD, which I posted in one of the threads

There are many development coaches/retired players that have much respect in this league as well that we could use

Billups would be a good shooting coach and a PG for Galloway
We should spend this money accordingly, as the development of these young guys are crucial to our success in these upcoming years
We know KP has work ethic, now getting him the resources to reach his potential could be infectious...

DeAndre Jordan obviously has a great workout for his strength/conditioning/athleticism/mobility, another reason I think he would be great for our development, especially for KP
I DO NOT want CA to be "KP's or Grant's mentor"

I would prefer KP do more REPS/SETS than low sets/more weight, as his agility/mobility/length/size is his strength NOT STRENGTH itself
We cannot afford for him to rush things and GET HURT in the process either, set backs and injuries seem to be a common theme for our players, I hope we get a preventive injury trainer of some sort as well

Whether some physical therapy/accupuncture specialist and/or other treatments, a page we should be looking at The Sun's medical staff
KP already has said he is looking for a place in Weschester, which says a lot about his willingness to get better, he must not over do it and allow his body to rest along with eating habits/nutrionist...

Which would be better for the practice facility but harder to get to the games with traffic/travel time...
With the David West rumors, I guess Phil Jackson might be asking Brian Shaw for his opinion, if he hasn't already, as well as Hibbert's fit/qualities for the system, since he saw how much he helped The Pacer's develop as the lead assistant and was very successfull and creddited to their success when he was there..

For West,
Though I hope it would be no more than a 2year 8m per year deal, nothing more...

Melo is NOT going to be a problem. This offense isn't designed to foster selfishness. The ball and player movement just creates a team oriented mentality and flow to the offense. I really don't know why people think that Melo will be an issue in terms of ball movement.

KP will get plenty of touches. I think he already understands how to move to the open spots and present for the pass. He's more NBA ready than people realize offensively. He already played a similar role on his team. He has to learn all the nuances of the offense and adjust to the NBA defense but he has size and a quick release which should help him a lot.

I'm telling you he's not going to be a problem. As long as the guards run the offense correctly then the ball will move and everyone will get touches. ISO after proper ball and player movement is part of the offense but so are a lot if cuts, catch n shoot, give n go etc. With an upgrade in talent the ball will move and Melo won't feel he has to do too much.

Phil, Fish and the staff won't let there be any selfishness. If we do sign a vet like West it be partly to help keep order and focus on playing the right way. Also keep in mind that the returning players got to play without Melo and learn how things are supposed to be done. Melo won't be a problem. He's not nearly as bad as people make him out to be. Especially when his team has talent.

I wonder if Zinger didnt shut down his workouts and worked out for Philly. .....if Philly wouldve picked Zinger instead of Ok4? I think its a posibility. Ok4 creates a log jam for them....Zinger wouldve been a great compliment since he stretches the floor.

id love to trade melo. Lets be honest we still are probably a year or so away . If melo doesnt like it phil will gladly ship him off for picks and use the extra cap space for better free agents. So we would get more picks, more free agents, and KP can develop without pressure from melo

Melo isn't going to put any pressure on KP. To the contrary he'll relieve pressure from KP and allow him to develop his full potential over time. In the beginning KP will be able to fill in and do what his skills and physique will allow him to do at this point. As he gets better and matures physically he can do more. It's actually a good thing that he has Melo here as well as the other vets we'll be adding this summer.

I think KP will do just fine on offense this year. He'll have some issues on D from time to time as he learns proper technique and defensive schemes. He'll also have some issues with the strength of some NBA bigs. Overall tho I think he'll be fine.

Melo's role in the offense really has nothing to do with KP in terms of pressure. All KP has to do is play his role in the offense. Just be the versatile scorer that he is. He's going to be on the move and as long as we get solid guard play from Jerian, Gallo, Jose and probably Shved I think the team will see a lot more sharing of the ball as opposed to last year when we didn't start the year with that many quality guards as we should have next year. It makes a lot of difference when you have guards and other scorers to spread the scoring around.

KP hopefully will get a lot of looks similar to what Bargs got and it's gonna help having Jerian out there as well. It's up to Fisher to make sure the players are getting good ball and player movement. He should have the players to make that possible.

on offense i cant imagine melo being a problem. as much as i bash him i cant recognize his greatness as a scorer. my beef with him is his defense, attitude (bashing players) and CONTRACT!!!

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

really? You don't have a problem with him not passing the ball especially out of the double/triple team?

IMO it all comes down to how good KP looks in SL, Training Camp and Pre Season. If he shows that he is comfortable in his role then everyone will be more comfortable in moving the ball and getting him great looks. I have no doubt that he'll make a good percentage of his shots if he's open.

Jerian is a big plus to the team IMO. KP needs good passes and I can see Jerian being a good passer and penetrator who can kick it to his teammates if the defense collapses to try and stop him. That's a huge plus for this team. Then you have Shved and Ledo who are also capable of penetrating and kicking. That should all help KP to be more successful. Drawing KP's man away with penetration makes him a perfect big target for passes.

For the same reason teams did not want to go to LA with Kobe, CA could be similar
Lets see with actual cap space, if we can attract TOP TIER FA's to come over, as LA and Marc Gasol already has said they have no interest joining NYK's, even with a system that they would flourish in

So I think if we can get rid of CA, it would actually make it easier to recruit future young ALL STARS to want to come to NYK's, like Jimmy Butler who has said he wants to be a franchise player and not with Derrick Rose's TEAM

CA isn't the only person that wants to build a market for themselves and at his age/contract, if we can move him to a contender that can net us assets, both should consider it
Especially if Houston is unable to sign any major FA's

Wonder if Chicago would still have interest with CA, though I doubt they would give up Butler in the process

More of something like Noah, Snell, Gibson, Bobby Portis, and some picks

Maybe even Derrick Rose while we add in Calderon, if it meant that Jimmy Butler would stay in Chicago to make him happy

Check out this clip -- Porzingis likes that he's got his own pass key to get in the gym whenever he wants to work on his game, even at night, and apparently he put up a ton of shots the other day working out with his brother Janis (1500 according to Mike Fratello ) that "his arm was numb" afterward. Kid sounds like a worker. Hearing little things like that really gets me excited about this kid and the upcoming season!
