The Triangle has everyone involved with off ball motion and great spacing. There are rules for what players should do depending upon what the defense does and as players master the responses to every defensive move they get to be second nature. The responses to the defense get faster the more players play in the system and develop chemistry. In any event any new coach won't have to worry about that pairing for long, so it's not a big issue IMO.

Stat is and has always been an awful passer. Don't you think that this is an issue for the triangle?

In another thread you said he doesn't pass at all or clearly not enough, now your saying is an awful passer.

what is the difference?

His passing game is awful.

Was Horace Grant a great passer? What about stacey King or CLiff Livingston? I seriously do not remember.

You don't have to be a great passer, just a willing passer that moves the ball quickly.

Horace Grant avg'd 2.4 assists with the bulls. Amare is at 1.3 for his career.

I am sure that all the bulls players avg'd twice as many passes per 100 possessions.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

stacy king was not that good, sort of a clown... livingston didn't play a ton of minutes he was an energy guy, but a very good defender as was horace grant...they crashed the boards and passed the ball back out to MJ

Yeah, the stats usually show that the Knicks score well when STAT anf Melo play together. The problem is the defense suffers as well.

Kerr doesn't care for Stat. It's well known. He drove him away from Phoenix and spent that season downing him as a liability while he was MVPing. He was right in the longer run regarding Amare's injuries, but he has to much historically invested in Amare failing. The only thing that changes that is if Phil says he staying and needs to play. Then Steve will back.

The whole Melo and Amare don't mesh thing was based solely on speculation. The second half of this season is the only time they have been able to practice and play together regularly...it's also when the Knicks woke from their coma. Too little too late, but these guy can definitely ball together and would likely thrive further if the triangle can be implemented and they buy in as per Phil's hope for everyone in the organization. Unfortunately the most important buy in is the fickle and logically impotent Mr. Dolan.

That may can seemingly ruin anything. And already seems to be trying.

In PHX, Amare was a top ten talent in the league who was the focus of the offense besides Nash.

Now, he is not. Don't matter what Kerr thinks of him. If Amare can go 32 min a game and stay healthy and avg 17-8, thats huge! If not, give us what ever he can. ONe more season. Expirings don't have the same value as previously but he mignt not be on teh team next year.
