hes really hated on the Knicks over the years.. I really dislike him, but if he's part of a successful turnaround I will embrace him. Im a flip flopper so I can do that

In Phil we trust.

After the impact of the veterans last year I have no problem w/ Odom. We need those guys.

If it was Kerr I hope he kept his NCAA tourney notes and get some UFAs for the summer or has his eye on buying a 2nd rd pick.

My fearless prediction is that if Kerr coaches next season, Phil will coach if they can build a serious contender, and Kerr will get kicked up to GM with a handshake agreement.

Jimmie's going to let Phil coach via satellite link? I don't think so, not without a serious salary adjustment.

This is the first move of the Phil era? Lamar Odom? Was Royce White out of our price range?

Well, at least we didn't give away any draft picks that we could blow on later.

I think it allows the Knicks more flexibility to make a trade with the non guaranteed second year. If Odom can play he is a good signing for a vet mini deal.

Phil was ready to coach the Lakers and he is supposed to be healthier now after his procedures. Looking at the tens of millions Dolan has blown on players, Im very confident that he willl gladly open up his checkbook to pay Phil his asking price should he decide to coach again.

In terms of Kerr hating on the Knicks -- seriously if you aren't a die hard Knicks fan like all of us --- what has there not been to hate from an outsiders perspective.
We have been a laughing-stock organization for a long-time -- Kerr hasn't laughed at us but he has probably been critical ---- just like everyone else.

Everyone takes on a different attitude when they get a job for a franchise. This is a great stage despite the craziness of the past. The 1st good step is bringing in a man with a great reputation to lead the BB operations. I can guarantee that no one is going to be laughing at the Knicks or not taking this franchise seriously with Phil in charge. We don't have to love an Odom deal. It's not like this is the master stroke move anyway. The biggest moves are down the line. We have to give Phil a chance to try some things. If it works great. If not, then it's not a big deal anyway. I'm more interested in what other things Phil has in mind. He got a good look at what has been going on with this team and what probably needs to be done to fix it.

I'm not sure what Lamar has left to offer, if anything, but I agree. Getting the contract on the books is the draw here. Just a little extra wiggle room this summer.

If nothing else, that's one more guy in the lockerroom that knows the triangle.

Is this going to happen? Rockets just signed josh Powell. I thought the Knicks and odom would have this worked out by now.

just got this from MSG:

KNICKS SIGN LAMAR ODOM FOR REMAINDER OF SEASON

NEW YORK, April 16, 2014 – New York Knickerbockers President Phil Jackson announced today that the team has signed forward Lamar Odom for the remainder of the season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Odom, 6-10, 221-pounds, holds career averages of 13.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 33.4 minutes in 961 games (684 starts) over 14 seasons with the L.A. Clippers, Miami, L.A. Lakers and Dallas. He appeared in two games for Baskonia (Spain) this season and last played in the NBA for the Clippers during the 2012-13 season, averaging 4.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists over 19.7 minutes in 82 games (two starts).

The Queens-native, was originally selected by the Clippers after his sophomore season at the University of Rhode Island in the first round (fourth overall) of 1999 NBA Draft. He is a two-time NBA champion (2009 & 2010) with the Lakers, and was on the Bronze-medal winning team with USA Basketball in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. In addition, Odom was the 2011 NBA Sixth Man of the Year and was an NBA All-Rookie First Team selection in 2000.

I think Phil is looking at a forward who can move the ball and help this team run the triangle. Odom has had seasons with 5 assists per game. If Odom can get it together he could possibly help. I think it pretty much confirms Phil is gonna look to run the triangle. A passing forward is a clear sign he's leaning that way.

today was the first season for him, next year is the 2nd season and the team gets to monitor his summer workouts etc and the 2nd year is non-guaranteed. sounds like the $1 type of signing to me. what's not to like especially if he surpasses expectations in a non-guaranteed 2nd year?

he doesnt need to be an impact player... take a role like Sheed or Kurt Thomas took. A few spot starts, maybe 10-12 minutes a game, have a good attitude and he will be a good addition

Would have been funny if they played the "I'm coming home" video for Odom last night.
