I like this. Maybe this will be the start of Tyson getting his minutes down to what they need to be and Aldrich crack the rotation.

Here's the game highlights

Many of us wanted Cole Aldrich to get some PT in addition to Tyler as well
However, Woodson favors many players, and doesn't give much chances for younger players to develop
Even playing Melo at the 5 at times, rather than utilizing the size we have on our bench

Throughout the year, he constantly played horrible DEFENDER's on final possessions,
Playing Felton/Pablo/Udrih on the final play, instead of utilizing Murry's size to play DEF when there is only 1 play left, is a horrible and stubborn decision

Cole really looks good when he gets PT.

Can someone explain to me the capology with him?

Do the knicks have any better chance to sign him than another team?

In short nope. I doubt he gets over 3M so theoretically they can use the mini-mid but I doubt they'll need too. If I'm Phil I 'd tell Cole we will move Tyson and you can start.

Yes. If we sell him that he will be the starter next year, he may go for it.

I am worried that other teams will see a lot of value in him. His Per 36 numbers get better every time he plays. 3 blocks in 18 minutes and some great contests.

If we have no advantage then are chances are not too good.

I am not sure teams will value him that much because he always has had good per 36 numbers. They might though. A team could easily offer him 2yr 5M contract with a team option in the second year.

I would point to Robin Lopez when he moved on from PHX but he played more minutes. What other players have shown promise in little minutes then thrust into the starting lineup?

If cole resigns for one more year would the Knicks have some version of bird rights with him? I am pretty sure that the nets have this with Blatche.

Yeah, pretty sure that would qualify him for the 'early Bird' exception -- requires a player to play for the same team for 2 years before being eligible (full Bird is 3). The player could then be resigned for 175% of his previous year's salary in year 1 of the new deal with 7.5% increases for any subsequent years. All early Bird deals need to be 2 years minimum in length.

Gotta Bring Cole back, bottom line. The man's a very underrated interior defensive/rebounding presence. They can let Murry and Tyler walk; Aldrich's a keeper though.

Up to me, his exit interview would go something like this: "The plan is to bring you back. All we want you to do is work on you body and conditioning over the summer. Come back in even better shape, the best shape of your life, ready to go at least 25 mins/game next year."

Agree but we have the same chance as everyone else to get him.

I can see a couple of teams offering more than we could.

Sad.

Don't get the hype about this guy. Just seems like a rotation player at the very best. His offensive game is very weak. Sure he can hit a runner but he can't dunk for ****. No way would I ever spend a mini-MLE on him. He's slow and unathletic and not going to improve. I wish we still had mozgov, there's a project that really turned into something worth building, too bad it was built in a different city.

Bumping this and I hope to bump in often.

This guy is a +/- (+) machine. He came in tonight and turned the game around. Does not show up in the stat sheet but he was +10 in 14 minutes.

Need more of his smart play, good passing, great rebounding and good defense in the games.

I like cole, not flashy but competes hard and he makes peanuts compared to other guys like bargnani who pulls his quad after sneezing

I agree, I think we should be playing him a hell of a lot more he went 13 and 10 with 3 asts. He makes smart passes(although he does over do it sometimes) an ofensive rebouding machine and is tough. He is stil 25, so he can still get a little bit better.
