$240mm over 10 is ****ing ridiculous, let's keep it real, but this is still a sad day. Best 2nd baseman in baseball and this was our guy man.

Where do we go from here?? Definitely frees up a lot of money to spend. Who do we target now? Infante, Choo, Granderson? All 3? The infield's a friggin' mess -- no 3rd baseman, Jeter's ankle worries me, no 2nd baseman now...We desperately need Tex to regain old form. Gland to see Kuroda back but we need pitching too in the worst way, starters and relievers. Ideally, I'd target Matt Garza and Fernando Rodney to close. Do we even have enough money for something like that?

Why did we let David Adams and Jayson Nix go? Was that completely necessary? Both were non-tendered -- I hope we can bring both guys back somehow for some more infield depth. I really like both players -- Adams was a good-looking prospect and Nix was a very capable role player with the bat & glove. I like both of those guys a hell of a lot more than this Brendan Ryan...I like Cash a lot, always have, but I hope he knows what he's doing. Ellsbury and McCann were 2 good moves but if we stop there, this team is stuck in mediocrity. We need much more...

Granderson looks like a goner too -- per Verducci, 4-yr deal with the Mets. If it was 4-yrs, $60mm -- come on, we couldn't have matched that?? Hoe do you let Austin Jackson and Ian Kennedy go in the same deal and not even make a play to keep this guy now?!?!?!?

You know how much weaker our lineup got? No A-Rod this year, Cano and Grandy gone, Tex may still be a question mark. Wow...Where's the power coming from in this lineup? Who hits 3rd in the order? 4th and 5th??

The problem is Cano could be a great Yankee. If he was great right now you sign him to whatever he wants. Truth is Cano is not a leader. Ellsbury will bring alot of that. He brings speed too. They did OD with his money but for a guy that could help the clubhouse as much as the field? It works.

The Yankees look good this year. I wish guys would stop worshiping stars. They get Omar infante and we're better than last year with the bat.

Now we have to get pitching and we are back!

Leadership in baseball is overrated. Yankees just let the greatest 2nd baseman in the game walk. He doesn't attrack fans. So what? He produces. Yankees put too much stock in that misconception

Now they will overpay for Choo. A career 20HR hitter. They will still go over $189mik. Why not bring back Cano

Why not at least go back to Cano with a counter offer -- somewhere in the $190-225mm range. Or $190-200mm at least? Just tell the guy, look, we have an entire friggin' team to field here so we can't give you the moon, BUT we love you and want you to stay.. How's $195mm sound, $20mm more than our initial offer? I mean WTF??

Why not come up with a counter offer for Granderson as well??? Absolutely NOTHING to show for that trade now a few years ago. And to let him got to the Mets?!?

Two words: COUNTER OFFER. You get the feeling we weren't even engaged at all with both players.

Who said anything about fans?

The Yankees lost cuz the clubhouse sucks. I believe we did the right thing letting this guy go Cuzco he doesn't inspire anyone. He's not clutch either. I would not be surprised if his numbers fell in Seattle. That dude just wants to play and not be noticed. Seattle is perfect for him.

We get pitching and a 2nd baseman and we are back.

Our franchise doesn't sit under Cano nutsac. We're the Yankees!!

It should've never got to the point to where he met with Seattle. Yankees offered $160mil then they go and offer Ellsbury $153mil. They should have locked up Cano first for $175-225 million over 7-8yrs

How could they not value this guy? Unbelievable. They played the same game with Jeter but had no problem signing Arod to 10yrs $275mil smfh

I mean why make the moves for Ellsbury and McCann? What's the follow up plan? Definitely wasn't to add them to Cano and Granderson..

My dad was just saying he heard on WFAN that it's a good move passing on Cano, that it frees up a lot of money for pitching and that they may even dangle Brett Gardner out there to see if they can get some pitching for him. I like Gardy but what MAJOR pitching are we getting for Brett Gardner??

Yankees print money. They will spend for pitching. You can't go in with sabathia as your ace again. They were never keeping it under $189. Not with Arod albatross of a contract

Gotta remember who the Yankees are. We are the evil Empire bro...no need to sob over these things...The Yankees will sign a bunch of pitchers, 2nd base will be covered and so will 3rd. Is there any doubt? 27 championships. This is not the knicks.

Yankees not resigning Cano is all about Arod. Nothing to do with Cano. $240m is the 3rd highest contract of all time.

They don't want to have buyer's remorse again.
