using 2024-25 stats for reference:

KAT Vuch
Pts 24.4 18.5
RB 12.8 10.1
FG% 52.6% 53.0%
3P% 42% 40%
FT% 83% 81%
Blk 0.7 0.7
AST 3.1 3.1
TO 2.7 1.6
SALARY $50M $20M

Defense, probably a wash.
Factor in the bone head plays KAT makes.
Percentages are extremely similar. Volume probably makes the difference.
Is KAT really worth $30M more?

Vucevic is a poor man’s KAT essentially, so it’s a fair question. Outside of age, Vucevic is probably better value, but at the end of the day, I don’t think having the better player is a bad thing.

Well, you can make this case for over half the NBA players.
But I'm a fan of 2 way players and KAT has never been and continues not to be a 2 way player.
Thats why we are making this comparison. If KAT showed up on defense, there's no comparison.
This is also why fans will have an up and down relationship with both players.

Defensive effort is consistent. Offense is up and down for any player that relies on shooting as their main offense.
JB at least knows how to draw charges and doesn't rely on just 3's as his main offensive tool. KAT is the one who needs more tools in his bag.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

Has Vucevic ever been to Conference finals in his long career?

Last I checked it was a team game.
Has Vooch ever played with Brunson and wing stop?

Ok, so are you saying that you can build a team around Towns but not so much with Vucevic? Because that would explain the salary difference

"That would explain the salary difference"? What would?
No what I'm saying is, could you field Vucevic instead of Towns, granted with a step down in production, but possibly equal efficiency, and use the $30M in savings to upgrade a different position. For example, if we don't resign Mitch, his $12M + 30M in savings = $42M. What can you get for $42M to put next to Vooch, vs Kat plus a $12M pick up for a PF or C (or if by some tiny probability Mitch comes back for the same money).
Get it?
Vooch + $42M PF
vs
KAT + $12M PF or C

Obviously, this is all theoretical, because I don't see how we make this happen. I'm just exploring the relative values of these two players.

Yes.
But.
Kareem: All-NBA Defensive team 11x, lead the league in blocks 4x, played before DPOY Award existed.
Barkley: Ok, I'll pass on this one.
Garnett: DPOY 2008, career def rating: 99.0, All-NBA Defensive team 12x
Giannis: DPOY 2020, All-NBA Defensive Team 5x
Jokic: the opposite of a bone head. Best passing center EVER. Currently leading the league at 11 AST per game! Last year second in the league behind Trae Young.

KAT: defensive bonehead.

That one is a franchise player and the other has almost the same production but cannot carry a team and hasn't. But I do get your point too. Having extra 42 mil to sign a free agent...just have to make sure it's a superstar. Because that's what you need to win it all. And usually teams accumulate assets with good salary and then consolidate it into a superstar to win big. You are suggesting the opposite. Interesting, of course

And let's be real, Vooch has only put up those numbers for a little more than a season. You could argue that last season was fluky coming from a guy in the last stretch of his career. KAT has been putting up these numbers for most of his career. That's what you're paying for. One guy is older and doesn't have much of track record for this level of production. Not too mention the difference in the way they bend defenses.

Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right. - The Tick

Trying to figure out if people wanna hate on KAT or Hart more before the statute of limitations passes on people going after Brown.

Yes.Thats the reputation. But realistically was he so great on defense? Could not for the life of us cover the 3.. I dunno. At least something should be there when it comes to that
