ESPN.com: Knicks waive Joakim Noah, will clear cap space for 2019

Knicker Blogger (Brian Cronin) — Ian BegleyAdrian Wojnarowski report: After waiving Joakim Noah on Saturday, the New York Knicks will use the stretch provision on the remaining year of his contract to clear salary-cap space in an effort to pursue top free agents in the summer of 2019, league sources told ESPN. Using the stretch provision reduces Noah’s cap hit of $19.3 million in 2019-20 to $6.4 million, saving the team...

Brooklyn Nets 113 – New York Knicks 107 – Game Recap

Knicker Blogger (Farfa) — Sooo… Preseason is over, and it went a little better than we could have expected, I guess. And the last game of preseason brought us a new gift: a game recap! Let’s cut to the chase, shall we? The good: – Frank Ntilikina (9 pts, 4 rebs. 5 ast, -17 +/-) played a really good game, despite the awful plus/minus. The kid was pretty much always in control of his actions, and his...

The Great Jimmy Butler Test of 2018

Knicker Blogger (Brian Cronin) — On Monday, Steve Mills, Scott Perry and David Fizdale had a sort of “open forum” for a few select fans to ask questions. When specifically asked about trading for a free-agent-to-be like Jimmy Butler, this is what Mills had to say: “We’re going to build this team the right way. We’re not going to trade assets that we can get on our own later. … We’re not taking shortcuts. We’re not...

Knicker Blogger (Brian Cronin) — Woj and Ian Begley report: Free-agent forward Mario Hezonja has agreed to a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the New York Knicks, league sources told ESPN. The Knicks are hopeful that Hezonja, 23, will fulfill the potential to become the complete player that made him the fifth overall pick by the Magic in the 2015 NBA draft. On the pro side of things, Hezonja showed some real signs of turning...

Unsung Knick History – How the Olympics Helped the Knicks Land an Icon

Knicker Blogger (Brian Cronin) — This is the latest in a series of examinations into different games, events and decisions that impacted Knicks history in some way, shape or form. Stories that are not as famous as, say, “The Dunk” or Willis Reed playing Game 7, but still have a place in Knicks history, especially for die-hard fans. Here is an archive of all the stories featured so far (I have no idea when...

Knicks Draft Kevin Knox #9: My Least Favorite Thing to See in a Draft Profile

Knicker Blogger (Mike Kurylo) — So I’ll admit I’m not a big college sports junkie. If I have a friend over who really has to watch a college game or one of my friend’s favorite teams has a big game, I’ll turn it on. Beyond that, I like watching a championship game here and there. But that’s as far as I go. So of course when a draft comes around, I’ll admit I’m at a disadvantage. In...

“We Got Rid of Phil Jackson, Where’s Our Karmic Reward?” – The 2018 NBA Lottery Open Thread

Knicker Blogger (Brian Cronin) — The Knicks haven’t moved up in the lottery since they won the Patrick Ewing sweepstakes over thirty years ago. And that was working with much different lottery odds. Since then, the Knicks have been in 14 lotteries and have not moved up in ANY of them. They HAVE famously moved BACKWARDS in a number of them, though. Let’s hope that they get some karmic reward for not trying to tank...

Knicks Don’t Hire Mark Jackson! David Fizdale Hired to be the New Knicks Head Coach

Knicker Blogger (Brian Cronin) — According to Woj, the Knicks have agreed to a four-year deal with David Fizdale. Fizdale is a very popular coach among the players in the NBA and when he was the coach in Memphis, he ran a modern offense (while still paying attention to their team defense), so hopefully this works out. The main thing is, though, that he is not Mark Jackson. So I am pumped.
